What a wonderful 1st day of school we had today!!! Everything was smooth and easy and everyone was happy! I had the pleasure of visiting nearly all classes today (I caught two at a bad time and will try again tomorrow!). While visiting with students, we discussed our priorities as follows: 1- Safety - Our goal is for our school to be safe 100% of the time. We talked about safety being physical safety in and around our building as well as making sure that everyone FEELS safe, comfortable and welcome at our school. Should a problem or situation arise, students were able to identify ten or more adults they could share any concerns with so we can fix it ASAP. 2- Learning - Many students reported that their parents have told them their job is to come to school and learn! We know you have high expectations for your child's learning and we do too! Our teachers are planning awesome learning experiences and students agreed to work their hardest each and every day. If we are all making safe decisions and working our hardest, we agreed we should also have FUN in school! I was able to share the following poem about habits with most classes today. We talked about why I picked this poem for today and students recognized that today marks a new beginning, a new grade for them. Their teachers and I encouraged them to consider their habits--- do they have a daily reading habit in place, what about exercising daily? Today they received their Eagle I, our new agenda book and we started the habit of writing in it daily- please be on the look out for it! It's a great day to start a new positive habit! Here's to a fabulous school year!! Ms. Amstutz

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We have some very exciting news to share from the renovations that are currently being done to the school. When students enter this Tuesday, they will notice that there is a new art studio space! The construction team, custodians, and Ms. Black worked hard over the past two weeks to make sure that it was ready for students in time for the 1st day of school. The art room has moved across the hallway from its former location. It is twice the size of the old one, and the numerous windows allow for tons of natural light. There are rumors that there is a kiln on way which will help teach students learn the process of clay building and ceramics! Stay tuned for more updates! We can't wait to see what what the kids create this year!
